CONNECTING BODY AND SENSORY AWARENESS WITH MINDFULNESS
This class for children will incorporate mindful meditation techniques with body and sensory awareness activities, enhancing the body/mind connection. By learning and practicing mindfulness, it can help us calm down, reduce impulsiveness, identify our feelings, improve attention, improve body awareness and generally feel better. Each week a will focus on a thematic mindful technique enhanced by body and sensory awareness techniques. A creative project to reinforce the mindful technique will be incorporated. A handout workbook page will be given out with each week’s activity so at the end of the 10 weeks participates will have their own workbook to keep. The class is a 50 minute class held once a week for 10 weeks. Class size is kept to a maximum of 8 participants to allow for personal attention. An additional one time, parents only, evening class will be held for to teach some of the meditation and body and sensory awareness activities. *This class is not a behavior management class. Participates must be able to participate in all activities, follow directions and be co-operative. If you think your child could benefit from mindfulness but may have difficulty in a class setting, individual sessions may be arranged.* **There are no make-up sessions or reimbursement for missed sessions |
